Purpose

Tau Beta Pi is the premier engineering honors society in the United States, recognizing and celebrating outstanding academic achievement in engineering. Our society is dedicated to promoting excellence in the field, supporting engineering education and research, fostering professional development, and providing a platform for networking and collaboration among our members. Whether you're a student, a recent graduate, or a seasoned professional in the field, Tau Beta Pi is committed to helping you achieve your goals and advancing the field of engineering.

The Bent

The symbol of Tau Beta Pi is the Bent, which consists of a bent, or tumbled, rod. The Bent is significant for several reasons. First, it represents the bond that connects all Tau Beta Pi members, regardless of their backgrounds, disciplines, or affiliations. The Bent also symbolizes the values of integrity, honesty, and character that are integral to the Tau Beta Pi mission. Additionally, the Bent represents the resiliency and strength that engineers must possess to overcome challenges and obstacles. Finally, the Bent is a reminder of the history of engineering and the role that engineers have played in shaping society. Overall, the symbol of the Bent serves as a powerful reminder of the core values and principles that guide the Tau Beta Pi community.
